• Mackintosh of Mackintosh, twentyeighth chief of Clan Chattan, died at his home, Moy Hall, Invernessshire, recently, in his eighty-eighth year, after a sudden heart seizure.

Mackintosh was a typical Highland chief, keen on maintaining the traditions of his clan and the Highlands, and ever ready to further their welfare. For the past GO years he took a prominent, part in the administrative affairs of Inverness-shire, of which county he was Lord-Lieutenant and for over 20 years Convener. During his term of office as Convener he assisted in the campaign for improved roads. He was. indeed, the pioneer in demanding that arterial roads should be maintained by the Imperial Exchequer.

Mackintosh -was n close personal friend of the late King George, who visited Moy Hall on several occasions, and shot over its famous grouse moors. He was intensely proud of beipg chief of Clan Chattan. the powerful group which include the Macintoshes Macphersons. Shaws. and MacGillivrays, and was a keen student of clan history.

During his long and busy life Mackintosh maintained the highest traditions of the old Scottish nobility and Highland chiefs. As an administrator and leader of public life in. the Highlands, he had few peers. ’The senior male representative of the family and the possible heir to the chiefship now appears to be Mackintosh's cousin, Alexander, mentioned some years ago as a farmer in Rhodesia.—" Weekly Scotsman.”
