GALE IN BRITAIN
———♦ WESTERN SHORES SWEPT LIGHTSHIP BREAKS AWAY IN MERSEY. CREW RESCUED BY LIFEBOAT. (British Official Wireless.) (Received This' Day, 10.35 a.m.) RUGBY, March 9. The western shores of the British Isles were swept yesterday by gales, during which a lightship in the Mersey broke adrift and the crew of five were rescued by a lifeboat. Considerable damage was done to the Fleetwood sea defences and at Morecambe.
