MAURICEVILLE
WOMEN’S INSTITUTE ANNUAL MEETING. (“Times-Age” Special.) The annual meeting of the Mauriceville Women’s Institute was held in ideal surroundings in the bush at the home of Mrs I. D. Cameron. Mrs H. Freeman presided over a fair attendance of members. The secretary, Miss R. Mortensen, read a report on the year’s work and the treasurer, Miss McGovern, presented the balance sheet. Mrs Freeman expressed her thanks for the support and co-operation of the secretary and members during the year. , The election of officers resulted as follows:—President, Mrs A. Forsberg; vice-presidents, Mesdames I. D. Cameron and H. Freeman; secretary, Mrs F. Pain; treasurer, Miss A. McGovern. In appreciation of her work during her term of office Mrs Freeman was presented with a gift by Mrs I. D. Cameron on behalf of the members. Misses K. Mortensen and A. McGovern were similarly honoured. A hearty vote of thanks was passed to Mr O. H. Nikolaisen for his work as auditor. The points prize for the best bloom was won by Mrs Forsberg and the competitions were won by Miss J. Neilsen and Mrs Briscoe. Afternoon tea was served. A vote of thanks was passed to the hostess, Mrs Cameron. Dry Spell Broken. The long spell of dry weather was broken when a light rain began last evening and continued throughout the night. The rain will freshen up pastures and relieve the shortage of household supplies.
