Eight liberated convicts from French Guiana reached Port of Spain, Trinidad, in an exhausted condition after a week’s voyage from Venezuela in an open sailing boat. After being detained for illegally landing without passports, they were provisioned by the Salvation Army and set off' again for an attempted trip to Cuba, some 1000 miles away.
