“GIVE ME YOUR HAND”
LORD NUFFIELD’S VISIT TO GARAGE. Despite his position as an industrial magnate, Lord Nuffield is not yet afraid of the grease and dirt associated with motor engineering. While the distinguished visitor was meeting members of the staff of Messrs H. J. Jones and Company, Ltd., yesterday afternoon, one mechanic with particularly greasy hands offered his arm in place of a handshake. But Lord Nuffield would have none of that. “Give me your hand," he said. “I’m not afraid of grease. That’s better,” he added, as he shook hands with a powerful and friendly clasp. Lord Nuffield’s visit to the garage was made at his own request to meet members of the firm’s staff. He was introduced by Mr H. J. Jones and was accompanied by Sir Charles Norwood; Mr Hobbs, private secretary; Mr Lloyd, Australian representative of Morris Industries Exports, Ltd.; Mr W. D. Gordon, secretary of Dominion Motors, Ltd., and Mr Nimcn, manager of Dominion Motors. Auckland.
