ARTISTIC BANNER

PRESENTED TO LANSDOWNE SCHOOL. At a meeting, of parents held in the Lansdowne School last evening a banner, to commemorate the opening of the new school, was presented by Messrs H. Smith and T. Newland. The banner is worked in art silk on a background of gold cloth. The name of the school is in gold with a shadow outline of blue. The motto of the school “Learn to Serve,” is in silver, while at the base is an ornamental scroll. • the centre block , incorporating the Prince of Wales feathers with the motto, “Ich Dien,” on either side. The centre panelling of ornamental figuring in black lines forms a suitable relief, while an ornamental edging of blue cord with gold fringe and tassels, adds to the beauty of the work. The whole forms a very handsome work of art and should be an inspiration to the scholars to live up to their school motto.
