CARTER OBSERVATORY

APPOINTMENT OF DIRECTOR. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON. This Day. The appointment is announced of Mr Murray Geddes. Director of the Aurorae and Zodiacal Light Section of the New Zealand Astronomical Society, as director of the new Carter Observatory which is being erected adjacent to the Dominion Observatory at Kelburn. The appointment was made by' the Carter Observatory Board. Mr Geddes is at present stationed at South Hillend, Invercargill and will take up his new duties on April 1.

The fund for the establishment of an observatory was provided in a bequest by Charles Rooking; Carter, after whom Carterton i” named.
