WOOL IN DEMAND
VALUES AT SECOND TIMARU SALE FULLY FIRM ON RATES AT ~ CHRISTCHURCH. TOP PRICES AT I O'CLOCK. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) TIMARU, This Day. More than thirty thousand bales, the largest, catalogue offered at this centre, commanded keen competition at the second Timarti wool sale this morning. The demand was for all classes of wool, with. Continental and Bradford buyers dominating the market and small inquiry from Japan. Passings were few. Values for halfbreds were slightly better than at Christchurch and crossbred was firm on Christchurch values. The clips in the main were sound but some showed signs of the weather, which has been drier than usual. There wore some stained clips. Later transactions indicated that there was not a quotable difference between today’s values and those realised at Christchurch, values being fully firm. Top prices at one o’clock were:— Merino, 16.1 d; halfbred, 14.=Jd; crossbred, lLld; three-quarterbred, HJd; Corriedale, 12Jd.
