ST. ANDREW SOCIETY
ANNUAL MEETING LAST NIGHT. ELECTION OF OFFICERS. The Chief, Mr H. Mackenzie Douglas, presided at the annual meeting of the St. Andrew Society, held last night. The annual report, previously published, and the balance sheet were adopted. The balance sheet showed a credit of £47 Is lOd. which was regarded as very satisfactory. An increased membership was also indicative of growing interest in the affairs of the society. Referring to a donation of £5 5s to Knox Church Board of Managers. Mr. Douglas stated that from the inception of the society the board had been of the greatest assistance. The Rev. J. Davie, in returning thanks for the donation, said the board was only too pleased to help the society and he trusted that they would again avail themselves of the use of rooms for meetings when the new building was completed. The following officers were ' elected for the ensuing year: Patron. Mr. Hugh Morrison; chief. Mr. H. Mackenzie Douglas: chieftainess, Mrs. Robert Miller- ch:c f tain, Mr P. C. McLaren; hon. sec." n i'” , y “nd treasurer. Mr. H. P. Glenn: hr” auditor. Mr. R. Milne; council. Messrs. J. Allan. A. Cruickshank, G. C. Dickel. J. Y. Douglas, J. McDonald, W. Ireland, W. C. Mann and M. Walker. It was decided to leave the membership subscriptions the same as last year. A donation of £3 3s was made to the Wairarapa Pipe Band. Carterton. Reference was made to the good work performed by the chief and the seiTeta ry.
