DRILL DISPLAY

GIRLS' INTER-HOUSE SPORTS. If the crowds of people who watched a rehearsal of drill last night at the Park Oval is any indication of the interest being taken, the Inter-House Drill and Sports meeting on Saturday next, should attract a tremendous crowd. Eleven teams of girls paraded last night for a rehearsal with the Masterton Municipal Band and the Park Oval was lined with spectators who were thrilled with the display given, even though the girls were not in drill costume and the spectacular side of the display was thereby minimised. The teams all went through the drill evolution in the order of appearance next Saturday afternoon: —McKenzie’s. Hugo & Shearer’s, Hansell’s, Woolworth’s, Stock and Station Agents, Cody’s, Mac Duff’s, Cafeteria, State Kitchenette. Leecroft Chambers and W.F.C.A. Mr. C. E. Rogers, of the Defence Department, acted as marshal and the Municipal Band played for every team’s marching effort. The standard of drill was amazingly high. In wheeling, turning, countermarching and general drill every team showed the clearest evidence of careful training. When the girls appear in uniform on Saturday afternoon, the public will undoubtedly be amazed at the standard reached. For the finale of the drill section. Ihe 99 girls will perform massed physical exercises under Mr. Rogers’ control. ,
