FURTHER DROP IN BUTTER PRICES. MARKET CLOSES STEADIER. A further decline of 2/- a cwt. last week brought the London quotation for New Zealand butter down to 116/to 117/-. According to the cabled report supplied by the Primary Products Marketing Department to the Dairy Board the market was steadier at the close. Friday’s closing quotations, with those of the previous week in parentheses, were as follow: — New Zealand: Salted, 116/- to 117/-, ex 118/- (118/- to 119/-; a year ago. 116/-); unsalted, 121/- to 122/- (122/- to 124/-; a year ago, 117/- to 118/-). Australian: Salted, 113- to 115/-, ex. 116/- (115/- to 116/-); unsalted, 114/- to 116/- (116/- to 117/-). Argentine: Unsalted, 110/- to 114/(112/- to 115/-). Danish, 121/- f.0.b., 143/- to 144/spot (120/-, 141/- to 142/-). Dutch: Unsalted, 114/- to 118/- (120/lo 124/-). _, , Lithuanian: Unsalted, 122/- (123/- to 124/-). Polish: Salted and unsalted, 113/(115/-). „ , ... The retail price of New Zealand is
1/3 a lb. and that of Danish 1/5 a lb. The present price of 116/6 is equal to approximately 13.9 d a lb. f.0.b.. New Zealand ports, compared with the guaranteed price of 14.89 d a lb. f.o.b. The London equivalent of the guaranteed price is 124/3 a cwt. The equivalent price of cheese is about 7.15 d alb f.0.b., compared with the guaranteed price of 8.42 d. , The Imperial Economic Committees estimated stocks of all butters in store was 765,095 boxes, compared with 384,127 boxes a year ago. Deliveries of New Zealand butter from store last week were 1814 tons, compared with 1552 tons the previous week. The quantity in store last Friday was 4848 tons, compared with 5583 tons a year ago. Deliveries of Australian butter last week were 2316 tons, and the quantity in store 5115 tons, against 3100 tons a year ago. The cheese market was quiet last
week, the price of New Zealand at 63/to 63/6 a cwt. showing a further decline of 1/6 on the week. Friday’s closing quotations, with those of the previous week in parentheses, were as follows: — n New Zealand: White, 63/- (64/6; a year ago, 67/6 to 68/-); coloured, 63/to 63/6 (64/6 to 65/-; a year ago, 67/6 to 68/-).\ zro/ Australian: White, 56/- to 60/- (58/to 61/-); colpured, 60/- to 62/- (62/- to 64 A)- , J HO, Canadian: White and coloured, 72/td 74/- (72/- to 74/-); old season’s coloured, 82/-. ' English finest farmers, 86/- to 9b/(86/- to 96/-); factory cheese, 64/-. Deliveries of New Zealand cheese from store last week were 12,338 crates against 18,010 crates a year ago. The quantity in store last Friday, including 3050 crates ex Sultan Star, was 63,652 crates, against 58,149 crates a year ago Deliveries of Canadian cheese last week were 4861 boxes, and the quantity in store 105,745 boxes, compared with 90,331 boxes a year ago.
