CIVIL DEFENCE
* MANY RECRUITS OFFERING IN BRITAIN. 0 MORE WANTED IN LARGER TOWNS. (British Official Wireless.) RUGBY, March 4. In a report on the progress of the National Service Campaign broadcast to the Nation today, the Lord Privy Seal, Sir John Anderson, described the response to date as definitely good and encouraging. Of 1,500,000 men and women required for civil defence they already had 1,250,000, but, because of the unequal geographical distribution of recruits, the shortage was somewhat larger than appeared and he asked particularly for further recruits in the large towns.
