FROZEN MEAT
PRICES AT SMITHFIELD. VALUES SLIGHTLY LOWER. Lamb market: Again shade easier, but lower prices stimulating consumption. Mutton market: Wethers and ewes, trade slow with prices heavyweights lower. Beef market: Frozen beef, demand quiet: prices inclined to weaken. Chilled beef, demand slow owing to Lent, with heavy supplies. New Zealand porker pigs: Lightweights easier; niediumweights firmer. Demand quiet. New Zealand baconer pigs: Market quiet and unchanged. The above report was received by the Meat Board from its London office, which advises that the following are the ruling prices of wholesale quantities of the descriptions of frozen meat mentioned and are for representative parcels of the goods sold on Thursday. Chilled beef prices are averages of the week.
