GOOD SALE FOR WETHERS. EWES REALISE LATE RATES. (By Telegraph—Press Association ) WELLINGTON, This Day. At the Johnsonville stock sale helc this week Wright, Stephenson and Co Ltd, offered a smaller yarding of cattle than usual and an average yarding of sheep. Only a few pens of prime extra heavy bullocks came forward, the balance of the yarding comprising chiefly medium and lightweight cattle. Prime heavyweight bullocks me; with good competition at late rates, though medium bullocks and lightweight cattle were easier by 10s to 15s a head. Cattle without finish were hard to quit. The yarding of cows and heifers was' of indifferent quality. No prime cows came forward. Competition was not keen With prices down 5s to 10s on last week. No prime quality vealers were penned. Prices for small calves were firm on last week’s. A good sale resulted for all classes of wethers, there being a total clearance with prices showing no alteration. Ewes sold at late rates. Hoggets met with no alteration. Prime quality lambs were sought after at prices firm on last week’s. Lightweight and plain lambs were Is to Is 6d a head easier. Values are:— Cattle: Prime extra heavy bullocks, £l4 2s 6d to £l3 ss; prime heavy bullocks, £l3 12s to £l2 18s; heavy bullocks, £l2 12s 6d to £ll ss; light bullocks, £ll to £lO 10s; prime heavy cows and heifers, £8 2s 6d to £7 10s;

cows and heifers, £7 2s 6d to £5 ss; and vealers, small, 30s to 12s 6d. Sheep: Prime extra heavy wethers, 20s 6d to 18s 7d; prime heavy wethers. 18s 2d to 17s 6d; medium wethers, 17s 2d to 15s lOd; prime extra heavy ewes, 12s 4d to 11s Id; prime heavy ewes, 11s to 9s 3d; medium ewes, 8s 9d to 7s: heavy hoggets, 20s to 18s lOd; hoggets, 17s 6d to 14s 8d; extra heavy lambs, 18s lOd; heavy spring lambs, 18s 6d to 16s 4d; medium spring lambs, 15s to 14s 6d; light spring lambs, 13s 6d to 10s.
