FOREST FIRES
DECREASE IN CANADA. OTTAWA. There lias been a decrease of approximately 50 per cent in the size of forest fires in Canada during the past 20 years as a result of the steadily increasing efficiency of the protective agencies and better fire-fighting equipment. This decrease more than offsets the increase of ten per cent in the annual number of forest fires which arc mainly due to carelessness and increased travel through the forested regions.
