Empson, manager of the Australian eighteen-footer team in New Zealand, in his report to the New South Wales Eighteen Footers’ League, said: “It was a pity that New Zealand skippers who caused a little bad feeling by what we thought was poor sportsmanship in protesting were allowed to get away with it to a certain extent, as this was the only discordant note throughout the tour.” Mr Empson recommended a continuation of the races against New Zea? land.
