After a desperate struggle with one of two suspects early this morning, Constable Lionel George Guise, a single man aged 22, was shot in the abdomen and died several hours later in hospital. It is believed that Guise was shot with his own revolver and also that the suspect was wounded, probably in the hand. A strict watch was kept on the hospitals. Early this morning. a large party of police surrounded a house in the suburb of Paddington and arrested two young men, who submitted quietly. One had a bullet wound in the hand.
