War Relics.

In the Rufigi River. German East Africa, just behind an island al the delta, lies the German battleship Konigsberg, well known for her exploits with the Emden during the war. Squadron Leader L. Jarman, who is in Christchurch on leave, saw the ship when he flew over the delta during survey flying in British East Africa. The incident when she ran aground was, he said, the first instance of cooperation between the Navy and the Air Force. British monitors were unable to direct accurate fire at the Konigsberg when she went behind the island, and she lay there without fuel. Aircraft then came down from Egypt and directed the fire from the monitors. All the light guns had been taken off by the crew and carried inland for reinforcements. While flying over Zanzibar Harbour, Squadron Leader Jarman saw below the water the wreck of H.M.S. Pegasus, which was sunk there by the Konigsberg. A phrenologist says he has trained his wife and two sons in his profession. All hands to the bumps. A critic says the modern novel is far too long. Beyond words.
