SCHOOL PICNIC
PIRINOA ANDJ'L’HITARATA A LARGE GATHERING. COMPLETE LIST OF RESULTS. (“Times-Age” Special.) The combined Pirinoa and Tuhitarata school picnic was held on Friday on Mr R. McDougall’s property. The weather was beautifully fine and there was a large attendance of parents and visitors. .The teachers of the respective schools worked tirelessly for the enjoyment of both young and old and the various events were decided in good time. Mr R. McDougall officiated as handicapper and starter, while Messrs Trourison, Sutton, Riwai and Goodin were the judges. Some of the events produced close and exciting finishes particularly so in the adult contests. Mrs Thomas proved herself a runner of no mean merit when she am nexed the ladies' event in fine style. The married men’s race produced a blanket finish, the winner, Tiaki Kaata, winning by inches. Veronica Hemi was the outstanding competitor in the school events. During the aiternoon the proceedings were enlivened by selections played on the pianoaccordion by a well-known local musician. The prizes were by Miss N. McDougall.
