WORLD’S GREATEST MAGICIAN
APPEARANCE IN MASTERTON ON WEDNESDAY. There have been grave doubts as to who is the world’s greatest musician, sculptor, artist of leader in dozens of other professions, but when one men-, tions the world’s greatest magician, the press and the public have been almost unanimous in placing the mantle on the shoulders of the Great Nicola. Nicola has been coming to this country, for the past twenty-five years, and it seems almost unbelievable the strides towards greatness he has made with each succeeding visit. It has been almost ten years since Nicola last visited us, and if he lives up to his past reputation of progressiveness, we can look forward, to some very startling new features in the way of old and modern magic. Nicola has searchea the remote corners of the earth in an endeavour to discover some of the fabled miracles the sorcerers and fakirs have been said to perform. Nicola penetrated their innermost secret haunts and came out with some of the most outstanding miracles that coula not be equalled even in the Arabian Nights. After many years of research, Nicola has evolved some of the most weird effects ever conceived in the annals of conjuring, some of them bordering on the edge of the supernatural. These ancient feats, Nicola has modernised, and presents in his revue of Universal magic, in which he impersonates the old magicians of the dark ages, each appropriately costumed and staged in Oriental splendour. The scenery and costumes having been procured from the native artisans of India, China, Egypt and other countries that Nicola has visited. With the exception of Miss Marion Eddings, Nicola’s principal assistant, the entire personnel has been replaced with specially trained artists gathered from the four corners of the earth, all chosen for their respective parts. Nicola will appear at the Regent Theatre, Masterton. on Wednesday next. The box plans are at Nimtnos.
