PERFECT WEATHER FAVOURS CANTERBURY MATCH SUDDEN BOWLING CHANGES BY VISITORS. BATSMEN RETAIN CONFIDENCE. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH. This Day. Perfect cricket weather prevailed for the first major match on the New Zealand tour of Sir Julien Cahn’s team. The pitch at Lancaster Park was hard and fast and the hot sun was tempered by a light easterly breeze. Both teams had’ agreed to bat twelve men but to field only eleven. Canterbury won the toss and Kerr and Donnelly worn the opening batsmen. Sudden .owing changes were a feature of the visitors’ attack but the batsmen retained their confidence. The fielding was alert and snappy and several posnble boundaries were cut off. Nine overs produced forty runs and Watts and Jackson were being played with ease. Scores are:— CANTERBURY.
