USE OF COSMETICS
SOMETHING FOR KEEP FIT WEEK. (To the Editor.) Si) —Will vou kindly grant me space to ask girls to ask themselves whether all this "make-up" and use of cosmetics in the present day really adds to their beauty and general fitness? Those who “make-up” do not seem to realise that they are wearing masks, and hiding under the stuff on their faces the complexion which nature has bestoweC upon them. What is artificial can be easily detected, and cosmetics must injure the skin in the long run. But what is worse, constant "make-up must injure the mind. Truer eyes could look out from a natural face than from a plastered one. Soft water, a good pure soap and talcum powder are all that is necessary for general use, from the cradle to the grave.—l am, etc., A Fairly Fit Octogenarian Who Has Never Used Cosmetics. Masterton, February 23.
