DEFENCE OF PAPUA
FORTIFICATIONS AT PORT MORESBY EARLY START TO BE MADE. SMALL FORCE SELECTED IN SYDNEY. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. (Received This Day, 11.50 a.m.) SYDNEY. This Day. The Federal Government intends to make an early start on the fortifications of Port Moresby, Papua, and a small military force has already been selected in Sydney to form the nucleus of the garrison. Il is expected that a contingent numbering about thirtyfive men will leave for Port Moresby soon. The garrison will be increased when the fortifications have been completed.
