TAXES IN MALTA

OBJECTIONS BY FORMER LEGISLATORS. MEMORIAL TO THE KING. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. (Received This Day, 10.5 a.m.). MALTA, February 22. All former Senators and former members of the Assembly have signed a memorial which a former speaker is submitting to the Governor for presentation to the King, protesting against the promulgation on Friday of ordinances increasing property and corporation taxes. This is the first time in history that taxation has been imposed in Malta without representation. The leaders of all parties have signed the memorial.

A new constitution is being proclaimed on Saturday next.
