SOUTH AFRICAN TEAM DECLARES EIGHT WICKETS DOWN FOR 349. GOOD LEAD OVER ENGLAND. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. JOHANNESBURG, February 22. At lunch today South Africa declared their first innings closed at 349 for eight wickets in the fourth test against England who made 215. Rowan (53) and Nutirse (20) reopened this morning from Monday’s total of 249 for three wickets, there being no play yesterday because of rain. MATCH DRAWN. VERITY CAPTURES FIFTIETH WICKET. (Received This Day, 10.10 a.m.) JOHANNESBURG, February 22. The fourth test between England and South Africa was drawn. The wicket was soft and slippery this morning, favouring the spin bowlers. Verity bowled unchanged, taking his fiftieth wicket on the tour. When England commenced their second innings against accurate bowling, there were 225 minutes for play left. Hutton batted for a hundred minutes and bit only one boundary. Gibb was at the wicket for 144 minutes.
