Twelve single-seater navy pur--.: suit planes crash landed over a wide area in the vicinity;of Pensacola last mgnt. rive were destroyed. Officials said the planes started a routine formation flight at dusk and immediately encountered a dense bank of fog. They separated to avoid collisions in midair. However the fog persisted, forcing blind landings when gasoline was depleted after the planes had flown blind for five hours. Air station officials said that a Brazilian lieutenant was killed and other pilots injured, but not seriously.
