MILITARY TEST

FRANCE DEFENDS TWO FRONTIERS MOCK ITALO-GERMAN ATTACK. GUIDANCE FOR GENERAL STAFF. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. PARIS, February 21. France’s eastern border, including the Maginot Line and the fortified cities of Metz and Thionville will be blacked out on the evening of February 22 for passive defence exercises, approximating conditions of a military, attack from Germany. Planes will attack the Maginot Line and test antiaircraft defences. Similar manoeuvres occurred at Lyons last night, based on the theory of an attack across the Alps to central France. It is understood that the operations are destined to give the General Staff an indication of the country's vulnerability against a combined Italo-Ger-man attack.
