BIBLICAL GUARANTEES

(To the Editor.) Sir, —In these troubled times of ap-> prehension and fears it may not be out of place to point out some of the guarantees we, the British peqple, possess against disaster. My authorities come from the book published by the British Government, passed by the House of Commons and the House of Lords and ratified by the King. These authorities ought to make it worth while considering, when looking for an amelioration or remedy for our present fears and evils. Take one declaration: "No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper.” This we know has proved true. Submarines terrorised us during the war but they did not prosper. They were defeated. The Zeppelins dropped bombs on London, but they likewise were .beaten. The same with poison gas, aeroplanes, the Hymn of Hate and the German Army. Another declaration: "I will set his (the British King’s) dominions jn the seas.” Well, we know the Empire’s Dominions are in the seas. Then, as regards the colonies Germany is demanding back: "They shall possess their possessions.” We still do. Our Empire is the only one that has a guarantee given in the book, an inspired book sponsored by our Kings and Parliaments. —I am, etc., FRANK WHITE. Eastry, Ekctahuna, February 15.
