The wicket was sodden after rain for the resumption, of the test match between England and South Africa. There was no play until after lunch. Melville and Van Dor Bijl wore steadily aggressive as Verity and Wilkinson bowled many loose balls. Melville was caught in the slips from an outswinger and Van Der Bijl immediately after was bowled, two wickets falling at 108. Both Mitchell and Rowan were missed early.
