LONDON QUOTATIONS. BUTTER MARKET QUIET. The London butter market was quiet last week, and the price of New Zealand finest salted was steady at 122 s a cwt. According to the cabled report supplied by the Primary Products Marketing Department to the Dairy Board, Friday’s closing prices, with those of the previous week in parentheses, were as follows: — New Zealand, salted. 122 s (1225; a year ago, 112 s to 113 s); unsalted. 124 s to 125 s (124 s to 1255; a year ago, 114 s to 116 s). Australian, salted, 118 s to 119 s (119 s unsalted, 120 s (120 s Argentine, unsalted, 114 s to 116 S (112 s to 116 s). Danish, 124 s f.0.b.; 146 s to 147 s spot (130 s 151 s to 1525). Dutch, unsalted, 128 s (1275). Lithuanian, unsalted. 125 s to 126 s (125 s). Polish, salted and unsalted, 118 s to 119 s. Retail prices were unchanged. New Zealand at Is 3d and Danish at Is 5d a lb. The present price of 122 s is equal to approximately 14.61 cl a lb f.0.b.. New Zealand ports, compared with the guaranteed price of 14.89 d a lb, f.o.b. The London equivalent of the guaranteed price is 124 s 3d a cwt. The equivalent price of cheese is about 7.51 d a lb, f.0.b., compared with the guaranteed price of 8.42 d. Deliveries of New Zealand butter from store last week totalled 1326 tons. The quantity in store on Friday, including 126 tons? ex Akaroa, was 5220 tons, as against 3292 tons a year ago. Deliveries of Australian butter last week were 2972 tons, the quantity in

store being 5671 tons, compared with 2038 tons a year ago. The Imperial Economic Committee estimates the stocks of all butters in store at 730,181 boxes, as against 267,563 boxes a year ago. The cheese market was quiet last ( week. Friday’s closing quotations, with those of the previous week in parentheses. were as follows: — New Zealand, white, 66s (66s to 66s 6d; a year ago, 66s 6d to 675); coloured, 66s to 66s 6d (66s to 66s 6d; a year ago. 67s to 67s 6d). Australian, white, 60s to 62s (60s to 625); coloured. 63s to 65s (63s to 655). Canadian, white and coloured, 72s (72s to 745); old season’s coloured, 80= to 82s (80s to 82s). English, finest farmers’, 86s to 96s (86s to 965). Deliveries of New Zealand cheese last week were 16,531 crates. The quantity in store, including 13.480 crates ex Akaroa and Zealandic, was 51.690 crates as against 53,193 crates a year ago. Deliveries of Canadian cheese last week were 6008 boxes. The quantity in store was 114,346 boxes, as against 99.777 boxes a year ago.
