KEEP FIT WEEK
MASTERTON CAMPAIGN OPENS TOMORROW PROCESSION TO THE PARK. MANY ATTRACTIVE FEATURES. The Physical Fitness Campaign will open in earnest in Masterton tomorrow afternoon, when a procession to mark the occasion will leave Wagg’s parking area promptly at 1.30 p.m. and will proceed to the Park via Queen and Park streets. A good representation of sports clubs is expected to take part. On arrival at the Park, the Mayor, Mr T. Jordan, will give a short address and those taking part in the procession will be free to return to their own clubs for play. An attractive programme has been arranged in the Park, the events including exhibition baseball, gymnastics, folk dancing, band music, etc. Representatives of sports clubs and others taking part in the procession will be dressed in sports attire and will carry bats, balls, etc., besides banners. The markers or leaders are asked to report to the parade marshals, Messrs P. F. Fagan, E. M. Hodder and Sergt-Major C. E. Rogers at least five minutes before the procession is timed to fall in, 1.15 p.m. The order of the procession will be: Masterton Municipal tßand, Fire Brigade, Legion of Frontiersmen, various sports clubs, Wairarapa College Pipe Band, Wairarapa College Cadets, Y.M.C.A. gymnastic squad, Central School Band, and school children. The Wairarapa Cricket Association requests that all players assemble in full cricketing outfit, together if possible with bats and other equipment, not later than 1.15 p.m. All cricketers will parade under the one large banner worded "Wairarapa Cricket Association: Play Cricket and Enjoy Health.” As all other sports organisations are being well represented in the procession, cricketers are asked to make a point of being present, and to assist in making the parade of cricketers an imposing one.
A highlight of Keep Fit Week is to be a match between two teams of Old Timers, to be staged on the Park Oval on Tuesday next from 4' p.m. to 6.30 p.m.
