AIR DEFENCE

ADDITIONS TO TERRITORIAL SQUADRONS. ERECTION OF NEW HANGARS. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON. This Day. Arrangements for increasing the strength of the territorial squadrons of the New Zealand Air Force were announced yesterday by the Minister in Charge of Aviation, Mr Jones. He said that Cabinet had approved of the strengthening of the Wellington Squadron by the establishment of flights in New Plymouth and Hastings. The Dunedin Squadron was to be strengthened by the establishment of a flight in Invercargill. The Auckland and Christchurch squadrons were also to be strengthened. “The consent of the local aerodrome authorities will be sought during the next few days to the erection of the necessary buildings in New Plymouth, Hastings, and Invercargill, and tenders will be called for the erection of the hangars,” said Mr Jones. “It is hoped that the expansion will be completed before the end of 1939, when it is expected that the necessary equipment will have been received from the United Kingdom.”-
