INSTITUTE MEETING. (“Times-Age” Special.) Mrs McAnulty, senr, presided over a good attendance of members at the February meeting of the Kaiparoro Women’s Institute. Miss Betty Parry, gave a talk on her recent holiday in Australia, this being much enjoyed. The competitions for the month were won as follow:—Best frock, costing not more than 10s, Miss E. McAnulty 1, Miss L. Dick, 2. Lettuce: Miss A. Dick 1, Mrs C. Welch 2. Best flower: Mrs C. Welch (Petunia) 1, Mrs Braddick (gladioli), 2. A “Bring and Buy” stall benefited the funds considerably. The hostesses were Mesdames Braddick and A. Falkner and Miss V. Welch. , Personal. Mrs C. W. Rout, of Nireaha, is undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Pahiatua. Mrs lan McKenzie, of Hamua, is making satisfactory progress toward recovery from her recent accident. Road Closed. Owing to the wet weather a section of the Eketahuna-Alfredton road under repair will be closed for a time. Traffic should use the Pah Valley Road. ' Bush Herd Testing. The Association average for 4155 cows tested during January was 7561bs milk, 4.8 test, 36.21bs of fat. Requiem Mass. A requiem mass for the repose of the soul of the late Pope Pius XI. was offered in the Sacred Heart church, Eketahuna, this morning. Anglican Garden Party. ■A very successful garden party is being held today in the grounds of Mr and Mrs A. H. Herbert by the members of St Cuthbert’s Church. The stalls are doing excellent business and there are several competitions, which are proving an added interest in the function. Tonight a dance is to be held in the Anglican Sunday school room. Swimming Sports. The Eketahuna Amateur Swimming Club will hold a meeting this evening at the local baths when some excellent swimming is being looked forward to.
