ENTERPRISING OFFICIAL

MONEY RAISED FOR HOSPITAL. A Pennsylvania hospital has made a lot of money out of Robert Taylor’s polite refusal to make a cash donation to the hospital. In reply to a request lor a donation Bob pointed out that his charity budget for 1938 had been exhausted and that he was extremely sorry to turn them down. The enterprising secretary of the hospital conceived the brilliant idea of auctioning Bob’s letter, and it brought a good sum. Now no has written Bob asking him to duplicate the jotter one hundred times so that they, too, can be auctioned. Bob is busy right now writing the duplicate letters. Every star receives thousands of requests from charity organisations each year, and they are forced to set a limit to their donations.
