HIDDEN SUBJECTS
TIME TO SHOW YOUR EARS. MAKE THEM ATTRACTIVE.. It is a long time since we have “worn” ears, and in many cases they had almost been forgotten, but nowadays they count for a good deal in setting off one's features. If yours are attractive, do not waste them, but show them to the world. And if they are not as beautiful as you would desire, then set to work Immediately and improve them. Perhaps when you lift up the side of your hair and inspect your ears you will receive rather a shock, as, instead of being something attractive to show, you will feel like hiding them again for ever. After years of exile you will find them pale, rather yellow, with the lobes perhaps wrinkled. But do not despair, because you can make unattractive ears pretty, and pretty ears beautiful. Ears should be small, white, well shaped, and with narrow lobes. And they should lie close to the head. When they protrude, wearing a fairly broad band of linen over the head at night is helpful in making them lie back against the head. The band will run under the chin, over the ears, 'and will be tied on the top of the head. Even if your ear is shapely, it should still receive an occasional massage, and this can be given by using the fingertips only, and carefully pinching and kneading the lobe of the ear. Then with a piece of cottonwool dipped into a lotion composed of equal parts of witch-hazel and boracic lotion, gently wipe over the ear, being sure to get into the crevices. If the skin is pale or yellow, wash the ears every morning in warm water, then bathe the lobes carefully with cold water, dry them, and then pinch each one all round so that the blood will come to the surface of the skin, and give them a pretty colour.
Accentuate with Ear-Rings. Your ears also require make-up. When you cleanse your face with cleansing cream, give your ears the same treatment, and you will be surprised how much softer, and even cleaner, they will appear. Your hail makes the ears dirty, and sometimes the grease from the hair causes blackheads to form behind the ears. To make the ears appear extra beautiful, they should be made up as carefully as the face. After washing them they should be massaged with a little vanishing cream. Then a small amount of dry rouge should be dusted on, and finally they should be carefully powdered, taking care not to forget u powder the backs as well as the fronts. Afterwards take a mirror into a strong light, and with a piece of cottonwool, wipe off any surplus powder. Your ears must appear very natural, and not artificial. Also show off and draw attention to your ears by wearing ear-rings, but first be sure and choose those which will suit your face. If the face is round or square, with rather broad cheek bones, you should then wear long, heavy, dangling earrings, as they will give length to your face. If, on the other hand, your face is long, or you have small, thin features, you should then wear short eai-lings.
On Show Again. And apart from the above simpie hints on making the ears more beautiful, there are other hints which will help keep your ears more healthy and free from trouble. Very large ears, which tend to make us feel slightly self-conscious, can be consideably improved if they are slightly rouged around the edges. This rouging must be done very carefully in front of a mirror, and you must be careful to make sure that there is not any excess colour applied to spoil the appearance. . Finally, remember that if it is a long time since your ears were on show, you must inspect them very critically before taking your hair up in one of the new styles.. -
