EKETAHUNA

BOROUGH COUNCIL MEETING. ("Times-Age” Special.) At the monthly meeting of the Eketahuna Borough Council a letter was received from the Road Safety Council stating that at its quarterly meeting in March it would consider a proposal as to whether or not it is in the interests of road safety to impose restrictions on the use of motor cycles. It asked the Council to express its views regarding the matter. It was decided to take no action in the matter. The Pahiatua Borough Council wrote asking for support to the following remit to be submitted to the annual Municipal Conference at Dunedin in March:* “That the Municipal Corporations Act, 1933, be amended to provide for the making and levying, of annual fees in respect of the ordinary and extraordinary water supply.” It was decided that no action be taken. Mr Hilton George (Alfredton) was appointed to the Physical Welfare and Recreation Committee. The plans and specifications for the Town Clerk’s residence as submitted by Mr Raymond Lee, of Masterton, yvere approved. . The following report was received from the Camping Ground Committee: Everything is now practically completed at the motorists’ camp and at the Domain grandstand. The improvements thereby effected are loudly commented upon by the motorists and the Sports Societies who make use of the Domain. A small electric range and electric wa-ter-heater urn have been installed in the kitchen. The camping ground fees have been reduced to 2s per car per day and 7s 6d per car per week. The' Reserves and Cemetery Committee reported as follows: The fence between the Cemetery and Kensington Park has been repaired and the roof of the building mended. Grass is in good condition. The dead branches of shrubs, etc., need collecting and burning. Structures have been removed from the old motor camp and the out of date notice board has also been removed. The Cliff Walk is in good condition. Drunken Driver Fined. At a special sitting of the S.M. Court Messrs H. E. Greathead and W. Sirnpson, J’s.P., fined Thomas King £l5, mn a charge of having been intoxicated in charge of a car, and his licence cancelled for eighteen months.
