MOTORIST FINED

FALSE CLAIM TO HOLD LICENCE. (By Telegraph—Press Association ) CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. An assurance by Robert Court that he was the holder of a driver’s licence, but did not have it with him, was later found to be false by an inspector of the Transport Department and led to Court's appearance before Mr E. C. Levvey, S.M., in the Magistrate’s Court, on a charge of speeding. He was fined £5 and on a charge of driving without a licence was fined £2O. The inspector explained that he found that Court’s licence had been cancelled for twelve months when Court was convicted on a charge of being intoxicated in a car. He stopped Court on the Main North Road after observing defendant travel at 49 miles an hour, all within the 30 miles an hour limit area.
