General situation: An anti-cyclone still extends from the North Tasman Sea on to northern New Zealand, but has lost intensity. A fresh depression has moved rapidly from the South Tasman on to the South Island. Forecast: Moderate to strong west to north-west winds, reaching gale force in places. Weather fair. Temperatures moderate.
