DEATH OF MAORI
FOUND ON THE ROADSIDE AT TE KAIiWHATA SUFFERING FROM SEVERE HEAD INJURIES. BELIEVED TO HAVE BEEN VICTIM OP ASSAULT. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) HAMILTON. February 12. The death occurred in the Waikato Hospital at I o'clock on Friday afternoon of Mr George Kahl, aged 2-1, single, labourer, of Pukekohe, who was found lying at the side of Massey Road. Te Kauwhata, on the evening of January 28 suffering from severe head injuries. Mi 1 Kahi is believed to have been the victim of an assault, as a bloodstained piece or wood was found the following morning close to where he was discovered Particles of wood were later removed from the wounds in Mr Kahi's head. Detectives from Auckland have been assisting in a widespread inquiry into the affair. The inquiry is proceeding.
