SUCCESSFUL YOUNG BREEDER
MR G. S. McLEOD’S HAUTOTARA STUD.
Although he is a comparatively 'young breeder. Mr G. S. McLeod has already' built up a fine reputation for his Hautotara stud, which was founded in 1928. It first came into prominence in 1933. when Mr McLeod’s flock rams topped the market at the Masterton Fair. Since 1929. sheep from the stud have been exhibited at every Masterton and Wairarapa Show and have always been in the prize money. In different years, Mr McLeod has held all the cups offered, in the Unhoused Southdown classes at the Masterton Show, and at the Masterton Jubilee Show in 1937 Mr McLeod entered the champion unhoused Southdown ram. With commendable enterprise Mr McLeod has made contacts with overseas markets and has sold stud sheep to Australia and South America. Recently he imported a high-class ram, “Head Hone Olympic.” and a ewe from Mr Pierpont Morgan’s stud.
