The liner Veendam reached the last known position of the British freighter Maria de Larrinaga, which wirelessed last night that she was sinking in mid-Atlantic, but found no trace of the vessel. It is feared it went to the bottom with all on board. Four other ships are joining in the search. The Maria de Larrinaga was a cargo steamer of 4988 tons gross register, built at Glasgow 10 years ago. She carried a crew of 37.
