CONVEYANCE OFWANGAEHU CHILDREN. TRANSPORT ARRANGEMENTS. "I am pleased to inform you that the Minister has now authorised the board to accept Mr J. W. Thornton’s tender for the conveyance of children from the Wangaehu district to the Lansdown public school and Wairarapa College,” stated a circular received this morning by Mr W. R. Nicol, of Masterton, a member of the Wellington. Education Board. “It is the intention of the contractor to supply a new vehicle which will comply with the Transport Department’s regulations, and pending delivery of this arrangements are in hand for the service to be commenced on Monday, February 13, with a bus hired from the Railways Department. The board has been in telephonic communication with the contractor and he is to visit Wellington on Friday (February 10) to finalise matters and collect the bus. The Minister has directed that the operation of the bus service is not to injure the Te Ore Ore school by the conveyance of children in the Te Ore Qre school district to Lansdowne. The present Te Ore Ore children who are eligible for conveyance may ride in the bus as far as the Te Ore Ore school, but under no circumstances will they be permitted to ride to Lansdown.”
The circular was a copy of a letter sent by the Wellington Education Ecard to Mr J. S. Mackay, chairman of the Wangaehu School Committee.
