BOY SCOUTS
NOTES BY A.W.A. Well Mo Katoas a new year has started and should prove a memorable one for Scouts with the New Zealand Jamboree at the end of the year to look forward too. Saturday, February 18. will see the commencement of Keep Fit Week and a full muster of Scouts is desired to take part in the procession which will leave at 1.30 p.m. We extend our congratulations to Mihi Ryan and John Kerslake in passing the test for their swimming badge which is no mean effort and consists of swimming 50 yards with clothes on, and taking them off in the water, swimming a hundred yards, and swimming 50 yards on the back with arms folded over chest and finally diving for small objects. To be eligible for the Jamboree Scouts must be at least second-class so it behoves Scouts to make every effort to attain this standard, as it is hoping with the aid of the public to send the whole troop to the Jamboree. So do your part, boys, and don’t forget now is the time to start saving for this great event.
