MARTINBOROUGH EWE FAIR.

BETTER TONE THAN AT MASTERTON.

Messrs Wright Stephenson and Co., Ltd., report:—We held a ewe fair at Martinborough yesterday when an entry of ewes well up to advertised numbers was submitted to a fairly good attendance. There was a far better tone about the sale than prevailed at Masterton on the previous day. Genuine aged lines created good competition and prices were in most cases above expectations. Old ewes were neglected and were all passed in. The following are our prices:—A/c. W. B. Martin, 6-yr. ewes, 15s 6d; 5-yr. ewes, 17s 7d, 4-yr. ewes, 19s lOd. A/c. Chas’. Smith, 2-th. ewes, 24s 9d. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., report;—A bigyarding of lambs came forward and met with a good demand from the large attendance.
