SYDNEY SALES. STRONG COMPETITION. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. SYDNEY, February 9. At the wool sales today 10.120 bales were offered and 9690 were sold at auction; also 688 disposed of privately. There was strong competition from the Continent and Yorkshire, with good support from Japan and local mills. The market ruled in sellers’ favour, with a strong demand for skirtings, which were from par to 5 per cent, higher. Greasy merino made 233 d a lb.
