COLONIAL LEAGUE
FORMED IN BRITAIN RESISTANCE TO GERMAN DEMANDS. MR AMERY ON COUNCIL. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. (Received This Day, 12.25 a.m.) LONDON, February 8. A meeting of Parliamentarians and others established a Colonial League for the purpose of impressing the public with the importance of the British colonial empire and stressing objections to any concessions to the German demand for the surrender of colonies or mandated territories.
The council includes Lords Lugard. Stonehave, Hailey and Seibourne and a member of the House of Commons, Mr Leopold. Amery (formerly Dominions Secretary).
POSITION OF POLAND RIGHT TO CONSIDERATION CLAIMED. STATEMENT BY MINISTER. (Received This Day, 11.55 a.m.) WARSAW, February 8. The Foreign Under-Secretary, Count Szembek, told a Senate committee that Poland reserved the right to state colonial claims during any international discussion on colonial problems. This interested diplomatic circles, because official colonial claims had not previously been formulated as a desire to possess territories, but merely as a desire to gain access to raw materials sources and territories for emigration.
