WAINGAWA FIRE

MASTERTON BRIGADE’S SERVICES APPRECIATED. DONATION OF 15 GUINEAS TO SOCIAL FUND. A cheque for fifteen guineas has been forwarded to the Masterton Fire Brigade by Messrs T. Borthwick and Sons (Australasia) Ltd. in recognition of the brigade’s services at the fire at the Waingawa works last Saturday. The letter accompanying the donation, addressed to the Superintendent (Mr T. B. Clark) states:

"We would like to thank you your brigade very much indeed for the good work done on Saturday night. We understand that some of your brigade are volunteers and we would like to congratulate them as well as the professional firemen on the knowledge they showed of fire fighting and the excellent way in which they carried out their work. We believe you have a social fund for your brigade and we enclose a cheque for fifteen guineas towards this fund." The letter is signed by Mr P. J. Borthwick.
