MEASURES AGAINST EXTREMISTS ESTABLISHMENT OF SPECIAL COURTS. SUSPENSION OF TRIAL BY JURY. (Received This Day, 10.40 a.m.) DUBLIN. February 8. The text of two Bills, to deal with extremists, has been circulated. The first modernises and amplifies the existing treason law, and the second, entitled the Offences Against the State Bill, provides measures against actions calculated to undermine public order and the authority of State. It provides also for the punishment of offenders and control over the formation of associations and for the establishment of special criminal courts, under Article 38 of the constitution, which enables trial with out jury. POSTERS IN BELFAST DEMANDING THE RELEASE OF REPUBLICANS. FOUR PERSONS ARRESTED. (Received This Day, 10.40 a.m.) BELFAST, February 8. Four persons were arrested after the discovery that I.R.A. posters, reading: “We, citizens of the Irish Republic, demand the release of Republicans from Ulster gaols.” had been placarded on public buildings here.
