WOMEN’S INSTITUTE
KAITUNA—FERNRIDGE MEETING.
The monthly meeting of the KaitunaFernridge Women’s Institute was held in the Kaituna Hall on Friday last, Miss L. Shaw presiding over a good attendance of members and friends.
The meeting opened with the Creed and after business was disposed of Mrs V. Gooding, of Masterton, gave a very interesting talk on her trip to Bermuda.
Mrs Stempa demonstrated the making of tea cosy covers and shoe bags. Both ladies were accorded a hearty vote of thanks.
The competitions for the afternoon were judged by Mesdames Gooding and Smith. The following were the winners:— Seniors: Fancy cushions, Mrs Sharnweber, 1; Mrs Stempa, 2. Tea cake, Mrs Keir, 1; Mrs Stempa, 2. Juniors: Fancy cushions, Miss N. Birch, 1; Miss L. Pain, 2. Rice bubbles, Miss N. Birch, l;.Miss L. Shaw, 2. Flowers, Mrs Shaw, 1; Mrs Sharnweber, 2. Afternoon tea was served by the hostesses, Mesdames Peters and Keir.
