EMPIRE CAPITAL
NEW ROLE FOR WINNIPEG MUCH SAFER THAN LONDON, IN EVENT OF EUROPEAN WAR. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. (Received This Day. 12.45 p.m.) WINNIPEG, February 7. Mr Stanley Shale. London, representative of the Royal Academy of Music here, declared that Winnipeg may become the capital of the Empire. It. is very probable, he says, that the capital may be transferred from London in the event of a European war. and Winnipeg, being the safest city on the Continent, would be an ideal substitute. It is much safer than Ottawa, which could be reached by bombing planes from a ship on the Atlantic.
